This paper aims to find out the conceptual metaphors in “an ode to death” written by
Daud Kamal. It ascertains the importance of mapping procedure in understanding any
conceptual metaphor. The article shows the process of mapping for each conceptual
metaphor in the poem, hence proving that the understanding of a sentence is something
more than understanding a word and conceptual domains plays a vital role in decoding
the intended message.
