Analysis of the Client Perception of Criminal Justice System of Pakistan: A Study of District Mardan

The present study aims to evaluate the criminal justice system of Pakistan. The study evaluates the system by investigating the perception of clients regarding the role of police. For the study an interview schedule is constructed through which data is collected from 100 respondents from the clients or justice seekers. The data is analyzed at univariate level. Majority of the respondents are illiterate, urban dwellers, from joint family system, with private jobs and nature of cases are other than murder and hurt. Mainly on all the indictors on police role, the perception is negative and they are considered to be incompetent, corrupt and under influence from criminals and influential. Hence police cannot ensure rule of law. Due to these reasons the criminal justice system of Pakistan
may be facing failure in eyes of the people who tries to knock the door of justice. The police workforce needs a rigorous and professional training in line with the requirements of the time and nature of cases. It is high time that police itself gets influenced from criminals. The department needs to motivate the force and improve its writ in the society.
